Doctors and scientific studies have shown that these medications, when given at low doses, used off label, promote hair growth and hair preservation with minimal reported side effects in few people. ( References 4-7). Our system is simple, effective and easily fits into your lifestyle.
How is hair loss different between men and women?
Both men and women can experience some degree of hair loss over time.
Inside everyone’s hair follicles, a small amount of Testosterone is transformed into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the most studied cause of hormonal hair loss in BOTH men and women.
Male pattern hair loss is the most common cause of hair loss in men. In the US, many men who have male pattern baldness start losing their hair by age 21.
85% of men experience noticeable hair loss by age 50.
Female pattern hair loss is the most common type of hair loss in women. It affects about 30 million women in the US. It is most common in menopausal women and women over 40.
55 % of women experience noticeable hair loss by age 70.
What is DHT and how does it cause hair loss?
Inside everyone’s hair follicles, a small amount of Testosterone is transformed into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the most studied cause of hormonal hair loss in BOTH men and women. The “NuGrowthRX”™ 2 Phase-System is a comprehensive and personalized hair growth treatment system that is aimed at blocking DHT in the hair follicle. It is simple, effective and easy to use.
In the scalp, the DHT attaches to a specific target at the root of the hair follicle. The DHT hormone is KNOWN to cause hair loss by reducing the size of the hair follicle (the structure that surrounds the strand of hair and its root).
As DHT shrinks the follicle, oxygen and nutrients are less able to keep the hair healthy. Over time, hair follicles affected by DHT struggle to grow hair, and the hair that does grow is thinner and shorter. Excess DHT eventually results in a non-functioning hair follicle, and hair that is unable to grow.
How do the NuGrowthRX™ 3 Phase-System with Prescription Medication Combinations™ work against DHT?
The FDA approved medications in “NuGrowthRX”™ 3 Phase-System Prescription Medication Combinations™ work in the following way: Finasteride and Dutasteride BLOCK the DHT receptor sites in the hair follicle, Spironolactone DECREASES the amount of DHT produced in the body, and Minoxidil INCREASES blood flow to the scalp by relaxing the blood vessels that nourish the hair. This allows you to grow more thick, strong, and healthy hair.
Can the comprehensive NuGrowthRX™ 3 Phase-System grow hair on a bald scalp?
If you have NO HAIR ON MOST OR ALL OF THE SCALP, you may only slow down your hair loss. New hair growth is not guaranteed with the “NuGrowthRX™” 3 Phase-System.
What happens to my hair if I stop using the NuGrowthRX™ 3 Phase-System?
If you stop using our system altogether, your hair loss will go back to the way it was before you started using our products because your hair follicles will no longer be receiving the benefits of our comprehensive “NuGrowthRX”™ 3 Phase-System.
Why does NuGrowthRX™ 3 Phase-System prefer oral minoxidil to topical minoxidil?
At “NuGrowthRX”™ we understand that your time and money is valuable. Historically, using topical minoxidil is time consuming. It must be applied twice a day and left on for up to 4 hours each time. If you do not wash your hair daily while using topical minoxidil, you might experience scalp flaking, burning, itching or redness.
There is an important enzyme in the scalp called sulfotransferase, that influences how well (or not) topical minoxidil is absorbed. Taking oral minoxidil bypasses this scalp enzyme and uses the liver sulfotransferase which is more efficient and results in a higher level of medication delivered to the hair follicles which can give you better results. Low-dose oral minoxidil is an effective and safe treatment alternative for a variety of hair loss disorders in healthy patients having difficulties with topical minoxidil preparations. 34 Scientific studies also indicate less hair shedding with oral minoxidil. ( Appendix #1: 30,32,33)
The convenience of taking a pill once a day outweighs the loss of time and hassle of applying messy topical medicine to the scalp twice per day. The bottom line is that if prescribed appropriately, oral minoxidil can be less expensive, more convenient, and more effective than topical minoxidil. ( Appendix #1: 30,32,33,34)
What if I have certain medical issues?
If you have a medical condition such as low thyroid hormone, an auto-immune disorder, are undergoing cancer treatment, have low iron or another medical condition not diagnosed, treated, or controlled, this system may not work as intended. We recommend that you check with your doctor if you have any concerns.
Is it ok if I smoke?
If you smoke, it is very important that you stop smoking to get the most benefit from our “NuGrowthRX”™ 2 Phase-System. Your hair follicle and scalp need nutrients and oxygen to grow healthy hair and smoking HINDERS that growth.
What side effects may I experience from the NuGrowthRX™ 3 Phase-System prescription medication combinations?
The doses that we use are significantly lower than the doses used for other conditions such as high blood pressure, or an enlarged prostate. You may experience minimal side effects. Please see the noted side effects in the FDA Site in the footnotes. (Footnote 4,5,6,7)
Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health care professional with any questions that you may have.
Can I donate blood or plasma if I am on finasteride or dutasteride?
If you are on Finasteride or Dutasteride you must wait 6 months after stopping these medications to donate blood or plasma because these medications are known to harm the male fetus during pregnancy.
What if I am pregnant or trying to become pregnant? ( Men and Women)
For Women:
IF YOU ARE PREGNANT,TRYING TO CONCEIVE, IF YOU ARE BREASTFEEDING OR PUMPING BREAST MILK TO FEED YOUR BABY you should not take Minoxidil or Spironolactone medications. MENSTRUATING WOMEN ARE NEVER TO TAKE OR TOUCH DUTASTERIDE OR FINASTERIDE. These medications are known to harm the male fetus if you are pregnant.
A confirmatory negative pregnancy test SHOULD be taken before starting these medications AND consistent and reliable birth control should be used while taking these medications.
For Men:
If you and your partner are trying to get pregnant, there is evidence that both Finasteride and Dutasteride may decrease sperm count, semen volume, and sperm motility. These changes were reversed on discontinuation of the medications. ( Appendix #1 G 86) If this pertains to you, we recommend you do not take this medication during this time period.
What other factors affect my hair health?
There are many tools available to help dry and style hair. It is especially important that these tools are used correctly, not used daily or at extremely high heat settings, especially in chemically treated hair (colored or permed).
What are the causes of heat related hair loss?
Blow drying, curling irons, flat ironing and over styling without giving your hair a rest (It’s more harmful if you have chemically treated hair) is very damaging. Heat causes dryness and breakage of hair. It destroys the proteins in your hair and dries out the hair cuticle (the outer layer of your hair follicle).
Damage to the hair cuticle may be permanent. It is important not to set your styling tools above a medium heat setting or use them daily. In addition, hair styles that cause pulling of the hair such as tight braids, ponytails , or hair extensions, can cause significant and permanent damage (traction alopecia) to the hair follicle and should be avoided. The same happens when you wear caps and tighten them. The tight pressure and frequent repositioning of the cap damages the hair cuticle. Vigorous hair drying by friction with a towel has the same effect. Treat your hair gently and blot dry your hair.
Chemical treatment of hair by permanent solution or hair color may cause damage if not properly applied. Furthermore, overuse of these chemical products affects the health of your hair and strips your hair’s natural proteins and may damage your scalp.
Can hair growth products cause itchy scalp?
Hair growth products that are applied to the scalp such as topical minoxidil can cause scalp flaking, burning, itching or redness. Our system uses oral medications instead of topical medications. Our system is simple, effective and easily fits into your lifestyle.
Why do you use Oral minoxidil instead of topical minoxidil?
Hair growth products that are applied to the scalp such as topical minoxidil can cause scalp flaking, burning, itching or redness. Our system uses oral medications instead of topical medications. Our system is simple, effective and easily fits into your lifestyle.
Topical minoxidil must be applied twice a day and left on for up to 4 hours each time. Low-dose oral minoxidil is a very effective and safe treatment for hair regrowth. Can COVID-19 cause hair loss?
People develop noticeable hair loss after recovering from COVID-19. Months after recovering from COVID-19, many people find that their hair is falling out in large clumps. The hair loss that many people develop, however, may not be so unexpected. Here’s why.
Temporary hair loss is normal after a fever or illness. Fever is a common symptom of COVID-19. A few months after having a high fever or recovering from an illness, many people see noticeable hair loss.
While many people think of this as hair loss, it’s actually hair shedding. The medical name for this type of hair shedding is telogen effluvium. It happens when more hairs than normal enter the shedding (telogen) phase of the hair growth life cycle at the same time. A fever or illness can force more hairs into the shedding phase.
Most people see noticeable hair shedding two to three months after having a fever or illness. Handfuls of hair can come out when you shower or brush your hair. This hair shedding can last for six to nine months before it stops. Most people then see their hair start to look normal again and stop shedding.

What causes hair loss after pregnancy?
Many new moms see noticeable hair loss a few months after having a baby. This is normal and it is not true hair loss. Dermatologists refer to this condition as excessive “hair shedding”. The excessive shedding is caused by falling estrogen levels in the body.
The good news is that this excessive shedding is temporary, and you do not have to do anything to fix it. Most women see their hair return to its normal fullness within a year and many new moms regain normal fullness even earlier.
If your hair does not regain its normal fullness after one year, you may want to see a dermatologist.

What about using hair growth oils?
Our comprehensive and personalized “NuGrowthRX”™ 2 Phase-System Cleansing Shampoo™ has essential oils and specially formulated ingredients that cleanse your scalp, loosen oil plugs and nourish your hair follicles to create a healthy environment to grow more thick, strong, and healthy hair. (Appendix #3)
There is not enough hard evidence to prove that hair oils make a huge difference in hair regrowth. There is evidence that pumpkin seed oil, lavender oil, and rosemary oil promote hair growth ( Appendix 3), and one study was able to show that rosemary oil was comparable to 2% topical minoxidil after 6 months. There are a few possible drawbacks of using oily products on the scalp that you should be aware of. Some oils can cause dandruff to worsen.
If you’re experiencing hair loss, your first step should be to check with a doctor, who can help you figure out the cause of your hair loss, and suggest a treatment plan. Do not use hot-oil treatments. These heat up the hair, which further damages fragile hair.
Why is a shampoo necessary to facilitate hair growth?
Our first of its kind comprehensive and personalized NuGrowthRX™ 2 Phase-System Cleansing Shampoo™ has essential oils and specially formulated ingredients that cleanse your scalp, loosen oil plugs and nourish your hair follicles. The ingredients that we used in NuGrowthRX™ 2 Phase-System Cleansing Shampoo™ are science based and peer reviewed . (Appendix #3) This provides a healthy environment to allow you to grow more thick, strong, and healthy hair.
Why is a nutraceutical necessary to facilitate hair growth and what hair growth supplements are best? Is there a specific diet I should follow for hair growth?
Following a healthy diet is important for hair growth as well as for normal body functions. Our body requires macronutrients ( fats, carbohydrates and protein) and micronutrients for health maintenance, repair, and growth. The average daily American diet does not meet the daily recommended nutritional intake. Also, if you are dieting or intermittent fasting, you may not be getting all the nutrients that your body needs to grow hair.
NuGrowthRX™ 2 Phase-System Nutraceutical™ can provide the vital micronutrients that you might be missing if you are not consistently eating a healthy diet.
It was developed with a Board-Certified Dermatologist and is an easy-to-swallow pill containing a unique combination of vitamins and essential micronutrients to grow more thick, strong, and healthy hair. Does taking zinc help with hair growth?
Zinc is classified as an “essential mineral”, meaning your body needs it to be healthy and to grow hair. NuGrowthRX™ 2 Phase-System Nutraceutical™ contains zinc as well as many other important vitamins and minerals that are needed for healthy hair growth. It can provide the vital micronutrients that you might be missing if you are not consistently eating a recommended healthy diet. Will this product help with Alopecia?
There are many different types of alopecia. Our system is focused on improving “androgenic/androgenetic alopecia” (in both men and women) which is a genetically predetermined disorder due to an excessive response to androgens and common in aging.
If you have “androgenic/androgenetic alopecia” hair loss, you may benefit from the NuGrowthRX™ novel comprehensive hair growth system that is rooted in a science based and peer reviewed fashion. Does wearing a hat cause hair loss?
Friction caused by the tight pressure and frequent repositioning of the cap can damage the hair cuticle. Vigorous hair drying by friction with a towel has the same effect. Treat your hair gently and blot dry your hair.
Should I get laser treatment for hair loss?
Several laser devices are now available to treat hair loss at home. The FDA has cleared some. If you see “FDA cleared” on the packaging or within information about the laser, this means the FDA recognizes the laser as a safe treatment.
The requirements for getting FDA cleared are much less stringent than for getting FDA approved.
How to reverse hair loss?
First, the type of hair loss that you have should be determined by a dermatologist, a medical doctor that specializes in diseases of the hair, skin and nails, or a knowledgeable doctor. If it is determined that you have “androgenic/androgenetic” alopecia hair loss, you may benefit from the NuGrowthRX™ novel comprehensive hair growth system that is rooted in a science based and peer reviewed fashion. Science is the DNA of our comprehensive and personalized hair growth system. Our system is simple, effective, and easily fits into your lifestyle.
What causes hair loss? What is the difference between hair loss and hair shedding?
The most common causes of hair loss include:
- Hereditary hair loss
- The Immune system overreacts
- Aging
- Hormonal Imbalances
- Nutritional Deficiencies
- Significant Stress (death of spouse)
- Significant Illness
- Some drugs and treatments ( eg chemotherapy)
- Hairstyles that pull on the hair
- Harsh hair-care products
- Compulsion to pull out one’s hair
- Smoking
If you have hair loss, your hair will not grow until the cause stops. For example, people who undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments often lose a lot of hair. When the treatment stops, their hair tends to regrow.
If you suspect that a treatment or drug is causing your hair loss, talk with your dermatologist or a knowledgeable doctor. Serious side effects can occur if you immediately stop a treatment or drug.
Other causes of hair loss may require treatment. Many people who have hereditary hair loss continue to lose hair without treatment. A woman who inherits the genes for hereditary hair loss may notice gradual thinning. Men who have hereditary hair loss tend to develop a receding hairline or bald patch that begins in the center of the scalp.
Treatment helps many people who have hair loss, but not everyone. A dermatologist or knowledgeable doctor can tell you what to expect.
Hair shedding often stops on its own. It’s normal to shed between 50 and 100 hairs a day. When the body sheds significantly more hairs every day, a person has excessive hair shedding.
Excessive hair shedding is common in people who have experienced one the following stressors:
- Lost 20 pounds or more
- Given birth
- Experiencing lots of stress (caring for a loved one who is sick, going through a divorce, losing a job)
- Had high fever
- Undergone an operation
- Recovering from an illness, especially if it included high fever
- Stopped taking birth-control pills
Most people notice the excessive hair shedding a few months after the stressful event. For example, a new mom can see excessive hair shedding about two months after giving birth. The shedding usually peaks about four months after giving birth. This shedding is normal and temporary.
As your body readjusts, the excessive shedding stops. Within six to nine months, the hair tends to regain its normal fullness.
If the stressor stays with you, however, hair shedding can be long lived. People who are constantly under a lot of stress can have long-term excessive hair shedding.
Smoking also impedes healthy hair growth.
(source: https://www.aad.org/public/diseases/hair-loss/insider/shedding)
How to thicken hair follicles?
While there is no way to change the genetic texture of the hair follicles, there are many ways to make the hair appear thicker and reduce breakage and hair loss, such as eating a nutritious diet and scalp massage. Using a thickening shampoo can help in some cases.
Can I grow hair back after chemo?
People who undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments often lose a lot of hair but not all chemotherapy drugs have hair loss as a possible side effect. Check with your care team to find out if it’s a potential side effect for the drugs you’ll be taking. Unless you have had very high doses of particular chemotherapy drugs, your hair will grow back once treatment is over.
Fortunately, most of the time hair loss from chemotherapy is temporary. You can expect to regrow your hair three to six months after your treatment ends, though your hair may temporarily be a different shade or texture.
What are some basic hair growth tips I can follow everyday?
Furthermore, overuse of these chemical products affects the health of your hair and strip your hair’s natural proteins and may damage your scalp.
What are the side effects of using NuGrowthRX™?
The doses that we use in our NuGrowthRX™ 2 Phase-System Prescription Medication Combinations™ formulated with a Board-Certified Dermatologist¹ (Finasteride, Dutasteride, Minoxidil and Spironolactone) are all FDA approved medications. Please see the noted side effects in the FDA Site in the footnotes 4,5,6,7.
How does hair growth stop?
Hair can stop growing or grow slowly for a variety of reasons including age, genetics, hormones, certain drugs, smoking, dietary habits or stress. You may notice your hair stops growing in one spot or seems to be growing slowly on one side.
